Dilworth Tasting Room Set to Open Plaza Midwood Location
Space features work from local artist Meredith Riggins

The Dilworth Tasting Room team is set to open its third location on Tuesday, a 3,900-square-foot space on Central Avenue in Plaza Midwood.
Located across the street from the large-scale Commonwealth development under construction where Midwood Commons once sat, the new Dilworth Tasting Room location will include 103 seats inside, outdoor seating for 72 people, 17 seats at the bar, and a private event space for gatherings or meetings up to 70 people, according to a release sent out on Friday.
Crafted by chef Jonathan Shuler, the Mediterranean-style dinner menu will feature Šopska salad, crni rižot (traditional Croatian cuttlefish risotto in ink), grilled octopus, fried calamari, seared tuna, Croatian kebabs, skampi buzara (traditional Croatian shrimp dish), airline chicken breast, cevapi and lamb chops, among other items.
The DTR Plaza Midwood cocktail menu will include classics, a rotating seasonal cocktail list, and a number of spirit-free options crafted by bar manager Alejandro Ibanez, according to the release.

The interior will feature a “sleek, art-deco-meets-modern design” that includes murals from local artist Meredith Riggins, Croatian art pieces and an old school horse machine on the garden-style patio.
“We started Dilworth Tasting Room in 2017 as a humble wine retail shop, offering salads, flatbreads, and cheese plates,” said owners Zoe and Jaffer Kovic in Friday’s release. “As the neighborhood thrived, so did the demand for a wider range of culinary options. In response, we upgraded our equipment, crafted innovative cocktails, and expanded our menu.
“This transformation turned DTR into a dining destination, now with three distinct locations across Charlotte,” they continued. “We are very proud to be a locally grown business, embedded in the vibrant and fun Charlotte neighborhoods where we’re able to bring a piece of our Croatian heritage, along with inspirations from our Mediterranean travels, to create a distinct dining experience at each DTR location.”
Perennially recognized by Queen City Nerve readers in our annual Best in the Nest issue, the first Dilworth Tasting Room opened on Tremont Avenue in its namesake neighborhood in 2017, followed by its SouthPark location in the former Corkbuzz space in 2021.
Along with its Mediterranean menu and craft cocktail options, each location features an extensive wine list curated by owner and sommelier Jaffer Kovic.
DTR Plaza Midwood will be open Monday through Wednesday, 3-10 p.m.; Thursday, 3-11 p.m.; Friday, 3 p.m.-midnight, Saturday, noon-midnight, and Sunday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. The team plans to launch brunch and its popular Flight Night at the location in September.
