Eat, Gay, Love: Giving Thanks with Friends

Annual inclusive Thanksgiving dinner built out of community care

Our second annual inclusive Thanksgiving dinner has a new name and the same mission: Spread love and food to our underserved members of the LGBTQIA community.

Queen City Nerve partners with Single Barrel Room in Plaza Midwood each year to host a free dinner on Thanksgiving day for all that are in search of community care. Unfortunately, members of the LGBTQIA community are often excluded from family functions during the holidays and we work together to offer a safe space for enjoyment.

Prepared for COVID

We will host two different serving sessions due to COVID-19 this year. Seating will be spaced out between Single Barrel Room and the adjacent Whiskey Warehouse space so that you can eat, drink, be merry and safe while enjoying food with friends and chosen family. Wearing a mask is required when moving about the space and it is strongly encouraged that you use the hand sanitizer that will be available throughout the venue.

The first serving session will be from 2-3:30 p.m. and the second will be from 3:30-5 p.m. Please visit the Event Guest Registration link at the bottom of this page to reserve an option for either serving or for curbside pick-up and delivery.

To keep potential cross-contamination at bay, we will have two menu options set up at the buffet. One for vegan eaters and one for meat lovers. Plates will be assembled in full and can be picked up at the end of the line. Anything that you would rather not have can be left on your plate and we will take care of it for you.

Community Care

For the first time, we are partnering with Block Love CLT. This is to make sure that all of our leftovers (not the ones from the plates) are going to a good home. Block Love CLT is a local non-profit organization that sets up in Uptown every single day to serve dinner to our homeless neighbors, and twice a week for breakfast. Afterward, all of their leftovers are distributed to encampments and shelters around the city to spread the love. All of our leftovers will be boxed up and contributed to their mission of spreading block love.

We operate this event on a donation basis. We ask that if you are willing and able, to donate either your time or food and supplies to this effort. Below you will find a form to submit what you are able to contribute to the dinner. Please select one of every option that you are able to donate. Check back for the form to be updated with what is still needed leading up to the event.

Our biggest issue during the first year was guests not having the ability to attend due to lack of transportation. This year we are looking for transportation volunteers for pick-up and drop-off as well as for meal delivery. Everything will be reserved in advance so your route will be mapped out entirely before the day of the event.

Drop-off instructions for food and supplies will be delivered to your email inbox after submitting a donation form. Please include your email for us to keep in contact with you!

We are offering curbside pick-up for anyone who does not feel comfortable being inside of the space for dinner.
