Eat, Gay, Love: Giving Thanks with Friends

Annual inclusive Thanksgiving dinner built out of community care

Eat, gay, love Thanksgiving Charlotte Queen City Nerve

Thursday, November 25 | 2-5 p.m. | Billy Sunday Charlotte | Free

Our third annual inclusive Thanksgiving dinner keeps the same mission: Spread love and food to our underserved members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Queen City Nerve is now partnering with Billy Sunday (1115 N. Brevard Street, Unit 1) to host a free dinner on Thanksgiving day for all that are in search of community care. Unfortunately, members of the LGBTQIA+ community are often excluded from family functions during the holidays and we work together to offer a safe space for enjoyment.

Prepared for COVID

Though restrictions have been significantly loosened since our last Eat, Gay, Love event, we are still working to ensure the safety of all our volunteers and guests. Masks will be required in all indoor spaces while standing or according to Mecklenburg County Public Health directives at the time of the event.

Seating will be spread out and more space is available for us than in previous years to make sure that any contagions have room to fuck off.

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the event will be required for all registrants who wish to enjoy the event in person.

Community Care

For the second year, we are partnering with Block Love CLT. This is to make sure that all of our leftovers (not the ones from the plates) are going to a good home. Block Love CLT is a local nonprofit organization that sets up in Uptown every single day to serve dinner to our homeless neighbors, and twice a week for breakfast. Afterward, all of their leftovers are distributed to encampments and shelters around the city to spread the love. All of our leftovers will be boxed up and contributed to their mission of spreading block love.

We operate this event on a donation basis. We ask that if you are willing and able, to donate either your time or food and supplies to this effort. Below you will find a form to submit what you are able to contribute to the dinner. Please select one of every option that you are able to donate. Check back for the form to be updated with what is still needed leading up to the event.

Drop-off instructions for food and supplies will be delivered to your email inbox after submitting a donation form. Please include your email for us to keep in contact with you!

We are offering curbside pick-up for anyone who does not feel comfortable being inside the space for dinner.

We are going to be feeding a lot of people this year for our annual inclusive Thanksgiving dinner. After the party is over and everyone is full of food and love, we will be boxing up and donating the remaining food to Block Love CLT so that they can distribute dinner to our homeless neighbors at encampments and shelters all around the city. Each item amount is specific for serving with COVID restrictions. If you would like to donate more, please reach out to info@qcnerve.com to coordinate either monetary or additional food donations.
