‘Dear Evan Hansen’

In this Broadway hit musical, a lonely and insecure-to-the-point-of-incoherence teenager inadvertently becomes a social media sensation and a symbol of the kindness absent in high school society. The fact that this assessment is all based on a cruel prank gone horribly and unexpectedly wrong, puts the likable protagonist under unbearable but believable tension. With surging tunes by songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land), there’s nothing cheap or saccharine about this show.
