The Bechtler offers a journey that immerses patrons in the diverse European influences that inspire the paintings, prints and sculptures found within the museum’s collection. By extension, the grand tour also subliminally suggests that Americans’ view of ourselves and our place in the world has been filtered through a Eurocentric lens. It’s a kick-ass travel brochure with cool artwork by Edgar Degas, Max Ernst, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and others.
