It takes a virtuosic, empathic player to master the sprightly, seductive genre of choro — the original instrumental music of Brazil. The Muse hosts two; American flutist Rebecca Kleinmann, who has played with several Brazilian music legends, accompanies Brazilian guitarist Cesar Garabini, master of choro’s 7-string guitar. Durham’s women-fronted tropical pop quartet Também specializes in Brazilian musical styles that sprang from choro — a mix of bossa nova, samba and baião.
