North Carolina is unique in that it is home to many ethnic minorities from Southeast Asian countries. For example, our state is home to the largest community of Montagnard people, a diverse group of ethnic minorities from Vietnam, living outside of Southeast Asia, as well as the fourth largest Hmong community in the US. This makes North Carolina’s Southeast Asian population very diverse, but also easily misunderstood.
