‘Witch’

Playwright Jen Silverman conjures up a cauldron of dark comedy by transforming the Jacobean play ‘Witch Of Edmonton’ into a tale that resonates in the post-MeToo era. The story begins when Scratch knocks on Elizabeth Sawyer’s door with a pocketful of promises in exchange for souls. Bloody mayhem ensues — in manner all too familiar to a modern audience. Silverman suggests that the whole misogynist structure might deserves to be torn down.
