Hopscotch Music Festival, a three-day event showcasing upcoming and esteemed names in indie rock and experimental music, has released the initial lineup for its 15th anniversary in the heart of Raleigh later this summer.

The festival will spread across the city, with major acts split between two main stages and smaller acts performing at six Raleigh music clubs — all of which are only accessible to Hopscotch Festival attendees from Sept. 4-6.

The City Plaza stage in the center of Raleigh’s downtown will be headlined by Louisville rock ‘n’ roll cornerstones My Morning Jacket, abstract rapper Earl Sweatshirt, and eccentric art-pop originators Sparks, a Hopscotch press release announced last week.

Down the street from City Plaza, the Moore Square’s stage will welcome headliners like Boise-based indie rockers Built to Spill, Montreal’s post-rock doomsayers Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and psych-rock band Crumb.

The main stages’ supporting artists include names like Unwound, Les Savy Fav and Superchunk along with independent artists like Nilüfer Yanya, Geordie Greep, YHWH Nailgun and artists that are local to the Triangle such as Frust, Blue Cactus and more.

Local venues including the Lincoln Theatre, Kings, The Pour House, Slim’s, Neptunes and Transfer Co. Ballroom will welcome festivalgoers in to enjoy late-night shows to help music fans catch their favorite local and regional acts or find a new one.

True Optimist, recently featured on Queen City Nerve’s cover, will play a set during Hopscotch, the first time Evan and Susan Plante will perform as their latest venture with a full electric band.

Other Charlotte acts booked for Hopscotch thus far include Cosmic Reaper, which offers classic doom and stoner metal elements mixed in with psychedelia; Davey Blackburn’s project Curiosidades de Bombrile; indie rockers Woody; nascent singer/songwriter Ali Forrest; electronic metalcore rockers Girl Brutal; and more.

VIP tickets include a Club Fast Pass for priority access to participating club venues. Individual clubs have age and capacity restrictions, so be sure to check those out beforehand on Hopscotch’s FAQ page.

The festival is partnering with local vendors and pop-up skate park Skate Raleigh to offer activations throughout the weekend.

The Hopscotch Music Festival has limited quantities of three-day general admission and VIP passes available at the festival’s website. Tickets start at $160.
