Michael Marcagi Hits ‘The Other Side’ in NoDa
...with Ashley Kutcher; Neighborhood Theatre; Feb. 23, 2024

Singer-songwriter Michael Marcagi was scheduled to perform on the smaller bar-side stage of the Neighborhood Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 23. However, it didn’t take long after tickets went on sale for the show to sell out and the performance to be moved to the larger main room of the NoDa venue.
With hit singles “The Other Side” and “Scared to Start” fueling the expansion of his fan base, a packed house was ready to welcome an appreciative Marcagi to the Queen City. The 31-year-old singer has only released one EP, 2024’s American Romance, but that didn’t stop him from playing more than 15 songs over the course of 80 minutes, including a cover of Harry Styles’ “Falling.”

The Cincinnati-based musician brough Baltimore-based singer/songwriter Ashley Kutcher, who played for around 30 minutes before bringing on Marcagi, who was all smiles as he recognized the size and energy of the Charlotte crowd.
“This is amazing,” Marcagi told the crowd. “I definitely can’t wait to come back here to Charlotte again soon.”
There’s little doubt that it will likely be at a larger venue in town whenever he does return. After all, singers with a similar style — see Noah Kahan and Benson Boone — are performing at the Grammys and headlining festivals. For now, he’ll continue touring the States before heading overseas with The Lumineers in April.
