Nooze Hounds: Charlotte Bar Owners Left Behind in a Pandemic
Episode 24
In Episode 24 of our Nooze Hounds podcast, we talked to Zach Pulliam of Abari Game Bar and Jackie DeLoach of Hattie’s Tap & Tavern about the struggles of being bar owners in Charlotte during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Both Charlotte bar owners have struggled — Pulliam has announced the closing of Abari Game Bar and is unsure of his next move — despite holding creative community events to raise funds. They’ve watched other businesses adapt and pivot but are given little funds and less options as to how to get through the crisis. We also chat about updates on CMPD policies, owners clearing property at Tent City on 12th Street and that goddam never-ending Hawthorne Bridge construction.
Remember you can catch us on Spotify and other places where you find podcasts, and be sure to check out Queen City Podcast Network for a slew of other great Charlotte podcasts that aren’t quite as good as ours but pretty damn close. Find past Nooze Hounds episodes here.
