On episode 28 of the Nooze Hounds podcast, we talked to N.C. Rep. John Autry and SAFE Coalition’s Robert Dawkins about their efforts to a launch a CAHOOTS-like crisis response program in Charlotte, allowing unarmed social workers to respond to low-risk 911 calls rather than police. We also discussed recent local events related to COVID-19, including the Mecktoberfest event last weekend that led to multiple new local cases, and the poor response to that news by ownership at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. We also touched on the recent gaslighting of the media by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokesperson.
