In Episode 3 of Queen City Nerve‘s Nooze Hounds podcast, Ryan and Justin welcome two guys with opposing views on the proposed sales tax hike that will fund arts, parks and education in Mecklenburg County to discuss the arguments for and against it.

Ray McKinnon, pastor at South Tryon Community United Methodist Church and co-founder of the Charlotte-based New South Progressives has been an outspoken opponent of the proposed sales tax hike. Former Mecklenburg County Commissioner Darrell Williams, owner of Neighboring Concepts architecture firm, has been serving as chair of Partnership for a Better Mecklenburg, a committee that was formed specifically to campaign for the tax hike.

McKinnon and Williams joined us for a great discussion about the tax hike before we got into other local news topics like the city’s newly changed housing ordinance, the proposed Silver Line light rail extension and why trying to set a world record for beer taps in a single establishment is actually quite gross.
