In episode 31 of the Nooze Hounds podcast, Ryan and Justin talk to Mecklenburg County District Attorney Spencer Merriweather about his recent announcement regarding a reshuffling at his office that aims to address a backlog in homicide and violent crime cases that has occurred following a recent rise in such crime and the COVID-19 shutdown of the courts. On the back end, the three also discuss the tight race between incumbent Cheri Beasley and challenger Paul Newby for N.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice and the looming potential for another shutdown during the second (third?) wave of COVID-19.
