We’re taking this opportunity to introduce a new podcast, On Call with Hannah Hasan, from Queen City Nerve contributor and Muddy Turtle Talks founder Hannah Hasan. In her latest episode, she speaks with Charlotte artist, Makayla Binter.

Hasan, who was named Best Creative in our recent Best in the Nest issue, launched Muddy Turtle Talks with her sister in 2018 as a way to share the stories of those who often go ignored in west Charlotte’s Enderly Park neighborhood. In 2020, as her live, spoken-word events were cancelled, she has been transitioning to virtual events, written stories and, now, audio.

This five-part series features talks with the five women Hannah recently highlighted in the pages of Queen City Nerve for her latest story: Passing the Crown: Five Community Heroes of the Pandemic. Episode 5 features Makayla Binter, a local artist who has worked to create inspiring art related to the Black Lives Matter movement over the summer despite the pandemic.

Remember you can catch us on Spotify and other places where you find podcasts, and be sure to check out Queen City Podcast Network for a slew of other great Charlotte podcasts that aren’t quite as good as ours but pretty damn close.
