PHOTOS: Amanda Shires Wraps Opening Night of Tuck Fest

Singer/songwriter/fiddler Amanda Shires capped off the opening night of Tuck Fest 2023 at the U.S. National Whitewater Center on Friday, April 21, showcasing a variety of songs spanning a nearly two-decade career, including from her latest album Take It Like a Man, and interspersing a couple of covers here and there for the appreciative crowd.
Shires, who was recently featured on the HBO documentary series Music Box alongside husband Jason Isbell, was in fine form throughout her 17-song set.

Earlier in the night, former Charlotte resident Nicole Atkins, currently on tour with Shires, performed an hour-long set spanning her own career. From “Neptune City” and beyond, Atkins’ brand of rock offers hints of ’50s influence.
The annual Tuck Fest is a three-day festival that aims to “celebrate the outdoor lifestyle” with a slew of competitions, exhibitions, demos, and live music. Other performers over the weekend included Moon Taxi, Bahamas, Adia Victoria, Devon Gilfillian, Tall Tall Trees and The Pink Stones.
