PREMIERE: Future Friend Goes Family First in Debut EP Title Track

Charlotte indie-pop duo Future Friend have been peppering releases to fans over the last two months, and Queen City Nerve has the last piece of the puzzle before the pair release their debut EP, Secret Handshake, on July 6.

The percussive and poppy title track to the four-song EP hits like if Sleigh Bells recruited Halsey, with brother-and-sister duo Mitch and Faith Froemming buoyantly bouncing into the dogs days of summer.

According to Faith, the song expresses the butterfly-in-your-stomach feeling of new love while also serving as a nostalgic call back to summers past.

The latter feeling may be born of the fact that the siblings brought in two of their sisters from the family’s hometown in Minnesota to sing backup.

“We recorded it in Mitch’s little bedroom studio and had a blast as we reminisced and brainstormed ideas,” Faith said.

In fact, the two recorded the entire EP in Mitch’s bedroom, where he also produced it.

The EP officially drops on Saturday, and the duo will celebrate with a release party at The Evening Muse, featuring opening acts Justin Moyle and The Primers. Tickets are $5-8 and doors open at 7 p.m.
