Sold Out Crowd Drives Incubus Anniversary Show

When Incubus canceled Thursday night’s performance in Raleigh due to singer Brandon Boyd being sick, fans worried that Friday night’s show at Charlotte’s Fillmore would be called of next. Instead, the band’s Make Yourself 20th Anniversary Tour hit the Queen City and a sold-out venue was ready to sing along to every song, thankfully. Boyd needed a bit of help singing from time to time, but not much more than you’d ordinarily see at a rock show.

The band performed the entire Make Yourself album, as well as a handful of hits — a few less than they had been playing at other tour stops. From time to time Boyd would twirl around the stage with plenty of energy — and then look completely drained the next moment. Fans were especially lucky to see this milestone show considering that the next night in Myrtle Beach got cancelled as well. It’s rare to see a big band play in a small venue — much like some of the Festivus performers in the same venue just last week, the band typically plays larger venues in Charlotte.
