The Velveteers Is the Best Show You Missed Last Night

The next time The Velveteers come to the Charlotte area, get tickets early. You’ve been warned.
The three-piece rock outfit tore apart the small stage of the Neighborhood Theatre on Thursday night, and it’s pretty obvious they won’t be playing on such small stages for much longer. Currently on tour opening for Greta Van Fleet, The Velveteers performed for a smallish crowd of about 100 in Charlotte. Those in attendance flooded social media with tales of “the best show I’ve ever seen.” It echoes a story from 303 Magazine entitled, “The Velveteers Is the Best Rock Show You’ll See All Year, Guaranteed.”
Singer/guitarist Demi Demitro, along with dual drummers Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig are a sonic force to be reckoned with. Demitro made use of every inch of the stage, including having audience members hold up her guitar and making her way into the crowd; along with standing on top of the drum kits. That energy is to say nothing of the band’s hard-hitting alt-rock that sparked memories of raw Nirvana for me.
If not for that Rage Against the Machine show I saw earlier this summer, The Velveteers would be at the top of my best shows of 2022 list.
